Knightstar

iamthedivacztThis week’s Diva Challenge is a UMT (Use My Tangle) challenge. This time around is Daniel Lamothe’s Knightstar. It reminded me of a variation of Knightsbridge that Margaret Bremner shared on her blog when she was playing with it, called Knightspeek by Donna Lacey. Daniel’s version differs slightly from Donna’s by rotating the tile differently and having a uniform underlying grid. If you haven’t seen Margaret’s Knightsbridge page, do go check it out. It is definitely worth the time.

I wanted one big star in the middle of my tile but unfortunately it didn’t happen on my first attempt, even after I gave it some thought. Oh well, there are no mistakes with Zentangle, so I finished it off with some shading. Oops, just realized, I forgot to take a before shading picture, which would have been great because there are some massive differences in the before and after. Bummer!

Knightstar ~ Lifeofjoy.meThis version turned out more like fan blades or a flower.

So I tried again and achieved the results I was looking for.

Knightstar ~ Lifeofjoy.meSince this second tile is what I had planned to do, I shaded it first. The shading looks a bit bolder in person. I sure wish I’d have taken a before shaded picture, especially of the first version. I did all my shading with the same regular old pencil. I may need to pull out one of my softer leaded pencils for even more depth in the future.

I had planned to do two tiles today, one with the one big star and then something different, which I hadn’t thought of yet. But when the first tile didn’t turn out the way I wanted, although I did like the end result, I didn’t have enough time to do a third tile. So this is it for today. ;)

Thanks in advance for any comments you lovely tanglers make. You are a big encouragement to me.

Until next time, God bless,

Michele ºÜº
