My married son Brian and his wife Lauren came out last night for his birthday celebration dinner. He chose Meatloaf and Scalloped Potatoes for dinner and No-Bake Strawberry Cheesecake for his dessert. (We don’t do the usual cakes for birthday dessert.) ;) We played SmallWorld again and the kids also Boss Battle. We had a good time! (Since I was so busy last night, which is when I’m preparing this post, it’s going to be a short one. I may add to it later.)

iamthedivacztThis week’s Diva Challenge is a Tipple Monotangle, which means to only use Tipple on this tile. I looked through the strings on TanglePatterns and went with #157 by CZT Jane Eileen Malone.

I then decided to use different size circles for Tipple.

Tipple Fan ~ Lifeofjoy.meI drew it rotated 90º to the right (clockwise). When I rotated it looking at it from all directions I liked with the full corner up in the left corner and flowing downwards. I then put my chop on it and put it down. When I came back and saw it from this direction again, I thought it looked like a hand fan. So that is why I have it ‘upside down’ from how it was when I signed it. ;)

It’s just simple and no where near the league of the many participants out there but I completed the challenge. :)

Until next time, God bless,

  1. Don’t you love how men always want to revisit their happy memories on their birthday? My husband always requests Swiss steak because that’s what his mom always made him. Sounds like you provided a lovely birthday celebration. And…I love how you created a three-dimensional look on this tile! How did you do that?? So cool!

    1. I always let my kids pick their favorite meals on their birthday. Now that Brian is married, I still let him pick for whichever day they choose to come out on or close to his birthday.

I’m not above bribing him and Lauren, his wife, to come out frequently by purposefully planning a meal I know one of them likes. ;)

I was going for a 3d look but didn’t feel I’d achieved it when I looked at it as soon as it was completed but when I just relooked at it, I could definitely see it, though I was going for something a bit less ‘wavy’. :D

All I did was use a bit more pencil on the sections I wanted to appear deeper and used my tortillon to smudge it towards the center of each ‘row’. Then it was all way too dark so I, shhhh – don’t tell, used my kneaded eraser to dab some of it off the middle portion of each row. (Without my kneaded eraser I would be to afraid of messing up all my hard work with too much shading, so since it is pencil and the tangles are ink, I feel free to shade and just dab away any excess.)

  2. Your tile with Tipple in three sizes is lovely.
I think all over the world children are allowed to chose their favorite meals on their birthday. Nice to see how we connect!
