Two New Tangles

iamthedivacztIt’s the first of the month and so the Diva Challenge this week is “Use My Tangle.” The tangle this month is Unbatz, which I have never tried before. When I saw it, I thought it looked like a good background. So I thought a bit about what tangle I could put in the center of the tile. I have never done Aquafleur before and have been tempted to try it. I decided to give it a whirl.

I can’t say that I’m ecstatic about any of it but it was a good first attempt. Now that I’ve seen it larger like this, I think I need to get my glasses prescription checked because my fill is a little scratchy especially on unbatz.

Before I close today, I want to take a moment and thank the commenters for the kind words on last week’s tile. It was a fun tile to do because it is so different to use a stick and scratch off rather than a pen to put on ink to create it.

Until next week, God bless,

  1. I agree that Unbatz screams background, but when you try to do it around something else, it’s not so easy—–at least not for me. You succeeded admirably. Your aquafleur looks like it’s floating above an Unbatz sea (to continue the water metaphor 😉 I need to learn aquafleur too. Nice job.

    1. Yep, doing unbatz around aquafleur was a bit harder than I thought. I had a hard time keeping each stroke the same size. :D There are a couple of helpful youtube videos for learning to draw aquafleur.

      Thanks for your kind comments!

  2. I’m a bit late to the party on your last week’s submission. I’m not sure how I missed it, but your reference to a stick and scratch off took me back. I have used scratch art in the past with much the same results as you had…but you inspired me to go back and visit it again. This time I used calligraphy tips instead of the stick and I like the way it turned out much better…was able to do thinner lines as well as a bit of ‘highlighting’. Still not a perfect solution, but I think still worth investigating. (If you care to check out my piece my instagram is sheila_grube). Anyway, awesome both last week and this week :) I like the use of Unbatz as a background…it is very ‘wallpapery’ in hindsight.

    1. Thank you Sheila. I appreciate you sharing your idea about using calligraphy tips on the scratch off tiles. I checked out yours on instagram via my daughters instagram since I don’t have one. It turned out very nicely. I’ll have to give it a try. Thanks for taking the time to share.

  3. I agree, it does have a background feel and I think what you have as a central motif really looks great with unbatz. I have been seeing so many different ideas it’s truly an inspiring tangle.
