The Diva Challenge this week is a string challenge, whereby we are to use at least one square and one circle for our string. I found a lid to a vitamin bottle handy, so that became my circle. Then I found a small square sticky note pad in my drawer and added that. I opted for two squares and one circle.
The focus tangle for Square One: Purely Zentangle and Shading Zentangle is Joki. I like Joki but I’m not very good at it. Since I was working with #go-to patterns last week, I got the itch to use Paradox and Cadent some more, so I did.
Here it is first before shading.
I love the magic of Paradox and the style of Cadent and both are so easy. Well, Paradox did have a little learning curve but when I realized that you draw each line from the wide portion to the point, it got easy. The hardest thing about Cadent is the “s” shape.
Here it is shaded. I love shading because it covers up lineart imperfections.
I liked the “globe” look around Joki, so I did a little light shading from the circle portion of the string. I’m never really sure how to shade Joki.
Here are the rest of the tiles I did for the #go-to project on Pattern Collections.
I forgot to take a picture of this last one before I shaded it. I had so much fun with it. The string was simply an anchored loop. I was surprised when this pineapple popped up.
I realized afterwards that I could’ve done some shading on Shattuck but am fine with it being just as it is.
I want to thank you in advance for any comments you take the time to leave. It is always encouraging to have someone compliment your work.
I hope you have a good day.
Until next time, God bless,

Nice set of tiles! Your shading is lovely.
Indeed great shading in all this lovely work.
Beautiful work! Great shading!
Happy Easter!
Wonderful work with super shading. I love that “pineapple”!
You’re right about the joys of shading. I love the pineapple, by the way and your Diva tile is fab. I too struggle to get the effect I want with Joki but that’s probably the problem – I have an expectation. One day I will just sit and let it flow and it will turn out just right. One day…
