There has been a lot of talk recently about the new tangle introduced by Maragaret Bremner and I can see why. It is lovely and challenging to draw but the end results have been gorgeous.

There were not just one or two video tutorials made for this tangle but three! I watched all three of them as well as read through Adele Bruno’s tips to tangling this one. It was the main tangle for her It’s A String Thing challenge last week. It was also the focus of the Shading Zentangle facebook group.

So I decided to give it a try. I had been forewarned and did not attempt this for the first time on a tile. I got out my trusty drawing book where I had recently practiced/learned Ellish. My first two attempts were not good but the third one was decent. I just made my first strokes a bit too large. I do have trouble with uniformity.

I was lazy with these pictures and just snapped them with my phone.

I also forgot to take a scan or picture even, of the tile before I started shading it. I have to say that following the tutorial by Bunte Galerie really simplified the steps to draw this one. I’m glad that I didn’t try to draw it the first week it was out because from others have said, it took a lot of focus. I also watched the tutorial by Kathrin Bendel which showed how to do it in a circle.

As others have said, I wasn’t sure how to shade it and didn’t have time to go into a 3D shading session, so I just did what came naturally.

Oh! I used the string Adele Bruno had for her It’s a String Thing challenge a couple of weeks ago. Antidots is the other tangle she suggested to use, so that’s what I went with.

Update 6/4/16: We got home from vacation yesterday and today I got around to seeing what I missed on the Diva Challenge. As it turned out, it was to use Skye. So I’ve added my link to here linky.
