Diva Challenge #198 Keep It Simple Silly!

Our Christmas Tree ~ LifeOfJoy.meLaura’s challenge this week is a return to the first challenge she ever posed. I did not participate in that challenge but am doing so today. :)

Since it is nearly Christmas, I thought I’d stay with a Christmas theme. I chose to keep my string simple by merely making a diagonal line across my tile.

Then I chose two tangles that remind me of the season. First I chose the new tangle Arukas because in this form, it reminds me of a star and second I chose Verdigogh because it reminds me of a tree branch. The star for the one the Wise Men followed to Bethlehem to find the new born king (Jesus) and the tree branch for the one decoration I put up every year this time, full of lights, ornaments, and fake snow.

I’m not very good at Arukas yet. I seem to have a hard time keeping things uniform. I also struggle with making straight lines. ;)

Verdigogh, which I have a feeling I am mispronouncing, is another that I still need practice with but I think the tile turned out half decent anyway.

Another Christmasish Zentangle ~ LifeOfJoy.me

I hope you are enjoying this special season. Tiffany was stunned to realize that Christmas is next week. Of course, her excitement caused me to panic just a bit. :D I’m just glad I’ve got most of my shopping completed. Now if I could only buckle down and get the wrapping done too.

I’ll still be posting a zentangle next week even though there will not be a Diva Challenge, as Laura takes the next couple of weeks off.

Until next time, God bless,

  1. The Aruka is great – it lifts off the page – and the combination makes a perfect tile for this challenge. Enjoy the holidays!

    1. Thank you sooo much for your kind words Suzanne! I appreciate you taking the time to visit and comment. I hope you enjoyed the holidays too!

  2. Your arukas demonstrates that being uniformly not uniform works very well—-perhaps embracing our imperfections is the answer. Sometimes, we might even learn that “imperfect” was, in fact, perfect all along. Anyway, that’s my profound thought for the day—maybe for the week, maybe until next year. :) Merry Christmas and best wishes for the New Year.

    1. Thank you Suzanne. I am learning to embrace my artistic imperfections. Thanks for taking the time, during this busy season to visit and share your thoughts. I hope you had a blessed holiday season and have a wonderful year!

    1. Thank you Donald. It can be frustrating when I am learning a new tangle or my hands seem to make squiggly lines when I want them to be straight, but I’m learning to embrace these imperfections and just go with the flow. :)

Thanks for the reminder! I do enjoy the process.
