Diva Challenge #194

#194 Left Handed Zentangle ~ LifeOfJoy.meIt’s been a while since I participated in The Diva Challenge but I had the time to do it this week.

This week’s challenge is to tangle with your non-dominant hand including shading and blending. I’m right-handed so my challenge was to use my left hand . . . NOT an easy task.

I’ve never done a zentangle with my left hand. It was even hard to just hold the pen. My grip was very tight! I wondered if I could even do the whole tile. ;) Filling in the areas that I wanted in black was the most difficult aspect.

The second image has my string in red .String in Red #194 ~ LifeOfJoy.meI like how it disappeared after tangling.

As I mentioned last week, I really like Seton, although after I started tangling it, I wondered if it was the wisest choice. ;) Looking at it now, I see a spot where I missed a curve and it will drive me bonkers. Oh well, I could add the line, re-scan it, and upload it again or just touch it up in my photo editor but I’m going to resist the urge and just leave it . . . after all, the challenge is called “Embracing the Yuck.”

I included Meer, and what I remembered of Eke. I finished up with some crescent moon, with some knightsbridge and amaze in it. I believe most of them are on tangle patterns .com .

Here’s my tile, a bit larger.

    1. Thanks Annemarie! It felt good to participate again. Things have been so busy around here I’ve not had much time to do much of my leisurely activities.

I was surprised that it wasn’t harder to do this project, but very glad too. ;)

      Thanks for visiting and commenting!

  1. Hi Michele! Your tile is wonderful! I love how Meer looks like a leaf hovering above the tile. I also really like how you chose to fill the Crescent Moon differently in each. I never think to go beyond the “color the whole thing in black”. I’m now going to remember what you did and try it next time. Thanks for doing the challenge!

    1. Thanks sooo much Elisa! It was an interesting challenge for sure. I will admit that I will be glad to use my right hand again though. :)

I’m glad I could inspire you to think outside the box with crescent moon (and hopefully other ‘color it in’ tangles). I hope I get to see some of what you do.

    1. Thanks, I forgot the Eke had a flipped row of e’s adjacent to the first. It isn’t the prettiest Eke but it was surprisingly easy to do with my left hand; I guess because it was small movements.

Thanks for taking the time to check it out and comment!

    1. Thank you. Since Seton is a new tangle to me, I don’t do it all that great with my dominant hand either. ;) I guess I didn’t think about it too much. The only thing I was really thinking about was that I didn’t think Tipple would be such a good idea or any of the more precise tangles.

As it turned out, Amaze (or Stiritup) is an exceptionally good tangle to use with my non-dominant hand. :)

    1. Thank you Lynell. I used to put together a newsletter for my homeschool support group and included all these kinds of things. Since my youngest is now a senior, my homeschool endeavors are coming to an end. Therefore, I decided to share the same things on a blog where anyone can get the information. Also, it is no longer limited to homeschooling families. If someone is just interested recipes, they can visit on Tuesdays and the same for those only interested in my art/zentangle endeavors on Wednesdays.

I agree, all challenge participants were brave this week. :)
